Debut for ALE’s widening Trailers
ALE leaving Stafford and transporting the transformer using the AL34 girder bridge frame.
ALE has used its new widening trailers to complete a transformer move from Stafford to Ellesmere Port, UK, in November.
The transformer, weighing 231t, was moved in three stages over three days, from Stafford to Congleton, then to Kelsall and, finally, to Ellesmere Port ready for its onward shipment.
The transformer was transported using 12 axle lines of the new widening trailers, narrowed in, with an AL34 girder frame.
Tom Irvine, Senior Project Manager, said: “The trailers can be used in two different ways, narrowed in and widened out. By keeping them narrowed in and using these under a girder frame, it showcases their flexibility and usability with different transport options.”
The widening trailers were launched in May at an exclusive client event in Staffordshire, UK. The trailers can be narrowed in or widened to 4.3m whilst loaded, making these the only trailers of their kind in the UK.
