19th Dec 2016, Brazil Heavy transport provider Transdata has completed the delivery of 14 transformers to the Xingu substation in the Brazilian Amazon region, with COMETTO Hydraulic modular trailer and High girder bridge, which will help transform part of the high voltage energy produced by the Belo Monte hydroelectric plant on the Xingu river.
Transdata use COMETTO Hydraulic modular trailer and High girder bridge to completed the door-to-door delivery of six transformers, each weighing 219 tonnes and measuring 10.4 m x 4 m x 5.1 m, from a factory in Jundiaí, São Paulo to the substation; as well as the barging, overland transport and unloading of seven 332-tonne transformers and one weighing 219 tonnes from Outeiro Port to the Amazon region.
A bespoke jetty was designed to receive the transformers on the Xingu river.
The substation is part of the Xingu/Estreito transmission line, which will run for more than 2,000 km and pass through 65 cities and four Brazilian states to distribute power to the southern regions of the country.
Transdata has also delivered the first of 14 transformers to the Estreito substation in the state of Minas Gerais. The transformers are being delivered to the site via the Bandeirantes Highway, since this route required the least amount of reinforcement to be undertaken.

A Transdata executou todas as etapas do transporte dos 06 transformadores de 10,40 x 04,00 x 05,10 metros – 219 toneladas de Jundiaí (SP) e dos demais 07 transformadores de 10,70 x 04,80 x 05,10 metros – 332 toneladas e 01 de 10,40 x 04,00 x 05,10 metros – 219 toneladas enviados da China e Alemanha para Belém (PA).
O projeto door to door abrangiu transporte marítimo-fluvial, transbordo, desembarque (load in) no rio Xingu, transporte terrestre por meio de SPMT’s (linhas de eixo autopropelidas), descarregamento e posicionamento na base final para instalação na subestação. O transporte fluvial no rio Xingu foi viabilizado através da construção de uma rampa especial para a recepção dos transformadores.
A subestação integra a linha de transmissão Xingu / Estreito que terá mais de 2 mil quilômetros, passará em 65 municípios e 4 Estados e distribuirá energia para os centros consumidores das regiões Sul e Sudeste do país.
